music made from a stapler

Check out retrothing for a cool video and soundfile combo of a dude who made a song from just sampling the sound of a little stapler spring vibrating. This sort of this is super intriguing to me. I can't wait until I get this tutorials/music advice/lessons thing going so I can do all kinds of cool little experiments like this one. The final result thankfully doesn't sound gimmicky at all. One thing that I love about the increasing availability of digital editing and processing software is that I can see this sort of thing becoming a more common practice. At the end of the day it's about making interesting music, and unfortunately a lot of the stuff I hear that is technically interesting (ie: made using some cool tool or technique) ends up sounding pretty bland. I look forward to the days when enough people are digging into the real dirt of sound manipulation that we get more little gems like this.
